  • What is Applied Behavior Analysis?
Applied Behavior Analysis is an evidence-based field of study that applies our understanding of how behavior works to real situations. The goal is to increase behaviors that are helpful and decrease behaviors that are harmful or affect learning. While often associated with children in an educational or therapy setting, ABA is applicable to all areas of work and life! ABA can be understood through seven principles: 1. Generality Strategies can be used across different environments, contexts, time, and with different people. 2. Effective Success is measured by the actual change created. Important questions to ask are: “Is the intervention working?" and “Am I seeing the data going in the desired direction?” These questions can be answered by frequent progress monitoring of data collection and observing the interventions being utilized. 3. Technological An intervention should be written in a way where it describes all of the components clearly and detailed enough for anyone else to replicate it. To make this possible, all of the techniques that comprise an intervention should be fully identified and described. 4. Applied ABA interventions should be implemented in society, and not just a clinical environment. 5. Conceptually Systematic An intervention must be consistent with principles that have determined to be effective as proven in grounded and replicated research. 6. Analytic Data must be collected on any intervention to analyze its impact. 7. Behavioral Behavior must be observable and measurable in order for it to be changed, and interventions must be observable and measurable to be analyzed.
  • What is Organizational Behavior Management?
Organizational Behavior Management (OBM) is a subset specialty of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and focuses on assessing and changing the work environment to improve employee performance and workplace culture. OBM consultants and managers work in a variety of industries (e.g., health care, human services, education, government, nonprofits, manufacturing, financial services, retail) to achieve meaningful and sustainable behavior change and improved business outcomes. OBM practitioners typically facilitate change initiatives, improve and develop processes and systems, close gaps in employee performance, retain and develop staff, and support business growth. Organizational results often include reduced accidents and injuries, improved employee retention, improved customer satisfaction and retention, cultural integration after mergers and acquisitions, improved quality standards, and increased revenue and profits.
  • If I am already certified in OBM, is this a good course for me?
Yes! This course will focus on the basics but it is the application piece that sets this training apart. Although it is a great refresher, we will provide the tools for you to put to use as soon as you are back to work.
  • I have only worked doing direct care with children. Does this apply to me?
Yes! This applies to anyone who has ever supervised or managed people... including your clients. You will complete training with a great basic knowledge of OBM and start your journey into leadership. Regardless of your credentials or background, you will leave with ready-to-use tools to move you to the next level.
